She and Peter decide to tell Daddy a bit about their relationship. He tells her to be careful, for Peter is not a strong character and is easily influenced. Anne tells Peter she trusts him as much as Daddy, and worries that he will forget about her when they leave the Annex. Dussel has apologized to Van Daan. They celebrate his birthday.

Wednesday, 3 May, 1944

There are no new politics. Peter's cat has disappeared. They are eating very little, almost no vegetables. Anne wonders why so much money is spent on war and so little on medical services, the poor, and artists.

"I don't believe that the big men, the politicians and the capitalists alone, are guilty of the war. Oh no, the little man is just as guilty, otherwise the peoples of the world would have risen in revolt long ago! There's in people simply an urge to destroy, an urge to kill, to murder and rage, until all mankind, without exception, undergoes a great change, wars will be waged, everything that has been built up, cultivated, and grown will be destroyed and disfigured, after which mankind will have to begin all over again." Eun Mi Lee’s Concert

   Eun Mi Lee, a queen of live song and barefooted diva, will visit us again. Her last visit was a year ago when she came back with her sixth album. She will give a concert.

   People will probably want to listen to her music again after a long time of being away and hoping that it has not changed. Eun Mi Lee's music is not strange to everybody but even if you heard her music for the first time by chance, you would find it deep and mature.

  In the warm spring, Eun Mi Lee's concert will give you a lot of pleasure and fill your heart with joy.

The Performance of Male Comedy Ballets, 'Grandiva'

   A ballet is understood by most people to be both formal and difficult, but Grandiva had male ballerinas from all over the world depicting peculiar women dancing while wearing a tutu on their muscular bodies and painting their faces with decorative designs. Grandiva created a ballet for anyone to watch and enjoy which breaks away from the normal. This unusual display is the attraction of Grandiva.

   Because they are male ballerinas, they can express not only a feeling of force but also elegance. You might be surprised while watching this performance.

   The chariot is a coffin linking this world with the next. Although this drama tells us of life and death, it is natural and quick rather than gloomy or sad because they use many sharp words and expressions.

   The main characters of this drama are the lonely old men who stood aside from society. One of them, an old person has much affection for life owing to his closeness to death. His eyes run tears of regret as he reflects upon his memories and his future vanishing existence. He prefers this than thinking about the agony of death.
