Teacher Recruitment (What is our Package deal for you with Global Impact Foundation Course Teachers)?

Dear Applicants, (Application below general information)

 May I thank you for your application for a teaching job with Global Impact.

We would be grateful if you can also pass this information on to your friends in the Teaching Profession who are also seriously interested in English teaching jobs in Asia. This page changes frequently and outlines teacher requirements and details.

As you may be aware teaching and living in Asia is exciting, enjoyable and great fun. There are many places to visit and enjoy. However, teachers are also exploited often and it is important to choose the correct place of work. This is where we can help you also. All locations are vetted and we form the basic requirements of the contract for working locations. A typical contract is written below for you to peruses. Firstly:-

AM I QUALIFIED??

If you have a BA or above in English, If you are a native speaker, If you have a teaching qualification and experience at teaching, then yes. You will be required to adopt the CELTA training techniques and your Head teacher/Director of studies will help you with this. If you are new to teaching and just qualified BA, then ask about how we can help you. You can earn your teaching qualification with us also. We do run On-line / distance training as in house.

1) Round Trip International Air Ticket: An agreement will be signed between you and your prospective school/university here in Asia where you are officially placed to teach. Half of your airfare will be reimbursed after 3 months of your teaching and the rest will be reimbursed at the end of the term if you travelled with a round trip ticket.

After your arrival, you will need to pay for your own air/train ticket to your final destination. (Many locations will in fact pick you up) On the same day of your signing contract with your prospective school/university, the authority shall fully and immediately reimburse your domestic air/train ticket to that city/place where you work. Once you complete your one-year commitment/contract at your university/school, the university/school authority shall buy and provide you a return air/train ticket to your place of recruitment as well as the flight ticket mentioned above.

For temporarily covering the expenses of your domestic air/train ticket, you will require to bring sufficient funds with you. You should check with the travel agency on the cost, or contact your place of work and they will inform you.

 2) Contract for One Year: Asian universities/colleges/high schools/Hogwons normally require that you sign the employment contract for at least for one year. Part time work however is also available.

3) Fixed Salary and other benefits: Your fixed salary will be dependant on the country you apply to, and the province you work in, however it will be a monthly paid contract. You will also be supplied with accommodation or a sum towards any accommodation arrangements you prefer to make for yourself monthly. You will also be supplied with a general free Medical Coverage, or half paid insurance. Work Permits etc. free of charge by your Host university/school, Your salary will be paid to you monthly.  You will be liable for local government tax as required under the local law. The fixed salary is for up to 20 hours teaching per week for teachers on Global Impact foundation courses. About 30 hours per week elsewhere. If the university/school requires you to teach additional hours you shall be paid for each extra hours of work.  

5- What Documents/Information Am I Required to Provide for Getting a Teaching Job? You are required to provide/inform us of the following information ASAP. Either through computer scanner or fax:

 1- An application and complete CV by Email

 2- The Date Page of your passport (just first page which shows full passport information and your photo) either by Fax or by computer scanner.

 3- A photocopy of your academic qualification/ degree/ diploma/ certificate sent by either by Fax or by email. You must bring the original with you for processing, if you have not processed in your home country and obtained a working VISA in advance. Please note that you must have a degree in the appropriate subject. (A degree in Civil Engineering will not get you an English/teacher of ESL position with Global Impact).

4- Two Letters of Recommendation from any two people, who were your employers, managers or supervisors prior who know you well and can give you a written and verbal reference. Do not forget to include there telephone number in your reference information.

5- Medical Test.  It is not imperative for you to provide us with a letter from your doctor.  The Embassy will not require a letter from your medical doctor when you apply for a working Visa. But before your travel to Asia, we strongly advise you to go and have medical examination by your doctor for making sure that you are perfect and strong in your health condition and not suffering from any kinds of infectious/contagious disease (such as: tuberculosis, hepatitis, malaria, sexually related disease. etc. By the regulation of most government, within a week after your arrival, you shall be taken by your university/school officials to one of the local hospitals for a medical examination. If the result of your medical test confirms that your are not suffering from any major illness and infectious symptoms, then your local school not only pays all the hospital expenses for your medical test but also applies for and obtains your Residential Permit and Expert License from the relevant government authority. If the medical test indicates that you are suffering from certain major illness which will hinder your teaching work or carry any kind of infectious symptoms (such as: tuberculosis, hepatitis, malaria, sexually related disease. etc.), then you shall not only pay for your own medical test, but also lose your teaching/working position in Asia. In this case, you shall also bear your own travel expenses to Asia.

6- What is your desired period of commitment (one year, two years, or more) in Asia?

7- What is the most reliable (earliest) date of your arrival in Asia (starting date of your teaching)?

8- Do you accept and agree all our arrangements including the place university/school where we shall place you for teaching. See appropriate Job specification and terms of Contract.

6- What Additional Information Must I Have to Include in My CV/Resume? When you provide us with your CV/Resume, please do not forget to provide us with the following list of information, which are crucial to our efficient processing of your application and arranging of your Work Permit and Invitation.

7- When Could I Receive My Official Invitation And Work Permit? If you are available for teaching immediately, within 5 working days after  submission of the above documents/information, by fax you shall receive an Official Invitation and Work Permit from us.  By presenting these documents, which you receive from us, you can apply for and obtain your working Visa (Expert Visa) for 12 months from the nearby  Embassy/Consulate in your country.

  8- What Documents Should I Have to Present to the Embassy for Application of My working Visa?  By dialing the local Telephone Directory, you could find out the address and phone numbers of a nearby Embassy/Consulate in your country.  You should submit the following list of documents to the nearby Embassy to apply for and obtain your Z-Visa (Expert Visa).  

1- Visa Application Form (you can obtain this Form from the Embassy)

2- Your Valid Passport (the validity of your passport should be more than a year)

3- Invitation and Work Permit, which you receive from us.

4- 4 Passport Size Photos (color)

5- Visa Application Fees

You will find it easier to apply for a single entry Visa (Z-Visa or Expert Visa) with the validity of 12 months. 

9- Could I Travel to China for Teaching by a Tourist (L-Visa) Visa? Certainly, it is perfectly possible for you to come to China for teaching on a tourist Visa only for a short-term assignment (summer or temporary jobs).  In this circumstance, your Tourist Visa should be valid for three months at least. Your Tourist Visa could be extendable/renewable (even convertible to a Z-Visa/Expert-Visa) in China if you wish to do.

If you are applying for long-term job (1 year or more), you are always strongly advised to come after you apply for and obtain your Z-Visa from the Embassy/Consulate, in your country.

10- By What Date Am I Expected to Arrive in Asia?  Normally, if you applying for an immediate job, you are required to arrive in ASAP or within 7 days maximum after your receipt of your Official Invitation and Work Permit from us.    

11- Who Shall Be meeting me at my destination Airport/railway on my Arrival? You must  inform us either by email or fax of your flight number and date/time of your arrival at the destination Airport/railway. Upon your arrival, you will be warmly received by a member of staff of your host organisation (universities/school).

 12- Could I Also Bring My Spouse (boy/girl friends) And Kids to Asia? Certainly, Asian universities, colleges and High Schools will be delighted to welcome your whole family  during your teaching period, but  schools will not be responsible for your spouse's expenses (air ticket, health insurance, holidays expenses, etc.) unless your spouse could also teach English at one of our universities/schools. If you bring your children, they can be placed at one of the best schools for their continuous education/study. Alternate arrangements would have to be at your own expense but there are also schools for foreigners here.

13- What Am I Required to Teach?  You will be teaching student foundation courses, adult and business courses and in some places English language courses. You will be required to work one Saturday shift only in each month.

14- What Teaching Materials/Syllabus Do I Have to Use for My Teaching? There are set course/text books. So you don't have to bring any materials and books with you and you don't need to worry about the teaching materials, which are already available for you at your prospective schools.  Additionally, you shall have full access to all the teaching resources at your school including library, computer, overhead projector and photocopying facilities and assistance from the local Director of Studies, etc.

15- Where do I Teach? You will be informed of this prior to your application.

 16- What about my age? As long as you are under (or around) 65 years old and still have a strong health and stamina, you could be perfectly qualified for getting a good teaching job in Asia.

 17- What kind of air ticket should I buy when I travel to Asia? You can buy either a round trip ticket or one way ticket.  Either will be fully reimbursed (depending on your contractual period) by your host university/school where you are going to be employed). Please note that whatever ticket you buy, it should be an economy class and it should be bought from a broker/travel agent and you must have a written receipt stating the amount actually paid. If you buy your ticket directly from an Airline, it will be more expensive and may not be fully reimbursed/compensated by your host unit.  Immediately after buying your tickets do not forget to inform us of you're: flight number and date/time of arrival at the airport in advance.  

18- Will I  still paid during the school holidays? Certainly, you will be still paid the full amount of your monthly salary covering the entire 12 months (or longer) of your contract. 

 9- What can I do during school holidays in Asia? It is your own discretion what to do during the school holiday. There are many opportunities to tour and visit many interesting places. Asia has a lot to offer to the tourist.

 20- Do I Have to observe all the relevant regulations and laws during my stay in Asia? Just like in your own country, you are required to observe and comply with all those relevant applicable regulation and laws of wherever you work during your entire stay.  

21- What currency will I be paid in? The current official currency in the country you work.

22- When will I be Paid for my work by my host school? Upon signing of the contract with your prospective school, you will be paid at the end of each of your teaching months.

23- What Is the Average Cost of Living in Asia? This varies considerably. As a rough idea, Japan is Expensive, Korea next, China can be very  cheap if you live like the Chinese and very expensive if you live as a foreigner. Philippines is very cheap. In any case wherever you work you will find this is reflected in local pay scale. Global Impact in all locations affords 'more than the norm'.

 24- Why do some schools offer more salary than others do? Just like different jobs/companies in your country, however, In certain cases, in certain countries in order to attract/lure foreign teachers, some Chinese schools have in the past given false information and offer/promise more salary. (Just before arrival) But on arrival, they have presented many excuses and forced re-negotiation of contract. Regretfully this is not unusual in China. It does happen in Korea but not so often. The offer made by Global Impact is very real and should not be seen as a part of such company practice.

25- Could I change the location of my assignment after my arrival in 25- Could I change the location of my assignment after my arrival in ? Under the strict Law/Regulation  in Asia you cannot change the location of your employment from one city to another city after your arrival unless you finalise a contract with your school. If you insist on doing so, it is only possible by going back to your home country or travel to a third country and then from there make another fresh application for a new location/school which you desire. In Global Impact the possibility of internal transfer to other locations is however possible as your employee does not change.

26- When I travel, Do I have to Bring All My Clothes? In Asia, clothes and shoes are very cheap (including good quality). So it is always better to come with little luggage. When you return home your bags will be full!!

 27- If I bring my Electrical Appliance to 27- If I bring my Electrical Appliance to Asia will there be there any trouble at the airport Custom  Custom Officials are very generous and not officious at all. You could bring with you any of your electrical items and electronics (including your personal laptop PC, floppy disk, CDs, Books, Camcorder, Digital camera, radios, etc.) and you don't have to declare anything at the Customs, unless you carry drugs, guns, knives, fresh fruits and other restricted items, or a large amount/number of similar commodity, etc. 

28 What Is the Power/Video System in Asia If I Bring With Me My Electrical Appliance?  Power Voltage in China, Korea and Philippines is 220 V in and Power Frequency is 50 H. Video operating system is as same as the European System (PAL System
